Get 'er done

Today we threw down the gauntlet at breakfast.

I've been annoyed that we didn't throw a proper first birthday party for the boys. Yes, we had a nice (chaotic) family dinner on the actual birthday. Yes, we had a fun 4-cousin party in Pepperell. Yes, the boys had cake (twice)! And, while I know they don't care, I do! There were no party hats, no invitations, and no decorations! And I suspect there are people in our lives who feel a little left out of such a big event.

Between the holidays/traveling, general chaos of having twins, and house renovations there was no way we were going to entertain on January 8th. But some of these house projects have been waiting far too long to get done and we need a kick.

So we committed to throw a 1year/1month(2boys) birthday party. And finish these outstanding projects to make it happen.

I'll be posting about our progress just to keep us accountable!

So far, here are the things we need to do (I'll cross them off as we complete them!):
  • Repair the plaster ceiling in the future playroom
  • Prime the playroom
  • Paint the playroom
  • Find & hang a new light fixture for the playroom
  • Buy a rug for the playroom
  • Build shelves in the playroom (okay, this is a stretch for our 2.5 week time frame!)
  • Hang fixtures in the bathrooms
    • Water closet shelves
    • TP holder in WC
    • Towel ring in Bath
    • Shower curtain rod in Bath
    • Hang door hooks in WC & Bath
    • Hang hooks for C&L's towels in bath
    • Re-hang lights
    • Re-hang shelving
  • Prime the main bathroom
  • Paint the main bathroom
  • Move the vanity & sink back into the bathroom
  • Decorate the bathrooms!
    • New shower curtain
    • New bath mats
    • New towels
    • Objets on WC shelving
    • Bath toy storage solution
    • Hamper solution
  • Spray paint mirror in WC
  • Repair ceiling in WC
  • Hang wallpaper in hallway
  • Frame robots in hallway
  • Rearrange furniture in nursery
  • Rearrange furniture in office
  • Extra credit:
    • Paint the nursery
    • Make window seat cushion for nursery
Yikes! That's quite the list! All this will be happening as Chris launches his website, I write a dissertation, I start a new job, and we raise these delightful little monsters. Wish us luck!!!

  2. Yeah, that's a list. You need a new Steffy. Or maybe a Critter. Or a Pomp. Or something. Job? You're talking like you've already got one!

  3. Did you tell $herdog?

Do you need some help? We can watch the boys next week. You know, from the computer screen. But I'll be sure to call you if they fall over or start crawling.

  4. Not a job job. Just a new research position.

And yes, we need help. Can you and Teddy please just come help. Teddy could hold a crawling tutorial while we painted?
