Elephant trophy

Sometimes I worry that having two little boys has turned me into a child again. Suddenly my design aesthetic has taken all sorts of childish turns. Like wanting to hang robot paintings in the hallway. Or buying a set of monster prints. Or hanging papier-mâché animal trophies on my walls. I was definitely a girly-girl growing up, so I'm a little unsure where these boyish preferences came from. Not that I mind. And not that I consider robots, monsters and animals to be the exclusive domain of boys (I'm a girl and I chose them, so...). I just wonder if I need someone to keep me in check?

But aside from issues of boyish excess, this elephant corner needs some color! Can we all agree on that? I love the black and white elephant. And I adore the light fixture we hung in the hallway. But the grey walls and the neutral accessories just aren't cutting it. I'm thinking a bright pink bench below the elephant? Or a series of colorful frames over (instead of?) the elephant? I don't know.

What can I do to help this poor, drab corner? It's one of the first things you see when you come in the house. Once you turn the corner you're smacked with more color than your eyes can handle. So maybe I need to exercise some restraint here? Just not this much restraint?
