The Water Closet

Like many San Francisco flats, we have one main bathroom split into two rooms. There's a small water closet right next to a bath room. Both rooms have sinks, but only one has a toilet and only one has a bath/shower. So the water closet becomes sort of a guest bath: we don't use it for any grooming thus storage is limited to what guests might need. But we do use the toilet feature often, so it does need to be a functional room.

Long before Pantone announced the color of the year for 2012, I had painted the walls a vivid persimmon orange. They're such small rooms, with lots of white and light, so a bold color felt right. But decorating around such a bright orange proved to be much harder than I thought!

Still, I'm loving the color. Here's what I've been thinking about for the water closet:

And here's my big moment of progress yesterday:

Got 'er done, checked 'er off the list!

  3. And when you're done making ideal boards for your house, can you make some for mine?

  4. I don't want to paint anybody's bathroom. Unless your house is new construction and painting involves no prep work!

  5. I remember when we picked out the paint for the bathrooms! Did you guys paint it yourselves or did our Ukrainian friend come do it? хорошо.

  6. I totally painted it all by myself! Victor did a good job with the hallways, but it wasn't perfect enough for my taste (or for such a small room as the WC). Painting around grout for the first time requires a certain level of OCD that's hard to find in the help. хорошо.
